Dr. Boykin serves and ministers military personnel, couples, individuals/groups, and families.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused therapy, Behavior Modification, Mindfulness/Relaxation, Motivational Interviewing, Spiritual Modality, Talk Therapy via Telehealth.
Dr. Boykin holds a PhD in Counseling- Advance Studies in Human Behavior from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota, a Master of Divinity from the Interdenominational Theological Center, and a Master of Social Work from Clark Atlanta University in the state of Georgia. She is an ordained Elder and former United States Navy Chaplain and Pastor of a Contemporary Worship Service in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. She is also a former Veterans Hospital Chaplain in Washington, DC and a Military OneSource Counselor in the state of Virginia. Dr. Boykin is currently practicing as a Virginia Board approved supervisee in Social Work Clinical Therapist.
She has over 20 years of experience in social services, ministry, and the counseling field. Dr. Boykin uses various modalities detailed to client needs to meet them where they are on their life journey, to help clients navigate situations by altering negative thought processes and dysfunctional behaviors and focuses on client strengths to help the client find ways of using their strengths to confront problems and bring about positive change in their lives.
Through her approach to counseling, Dr. Boykin strives to build positive relationships with clients and create a safe space for clients to confidentially feel free to share their truths, while being supported during the process of establishing goals and coping techniques to overcome personal life challenges.
